What happens during a typical compressed air system service call?

When a Northwest Compressor technician arrives to perform preventive maintenance on your air compressor, they begin by following the manufacturer’s guidelines. For a rotary screw compressor, this typically involves servicing the compressor, including air and oil filters, checking the compressor fluid (oil) level and replacing the oil and the separator element, based on the compressor’s operating hours. While addressing the prescribed maintenance items, we also inspect other machine systems to ensure proper operation. This is an excellent opportunity to review the compressor’s cooling system for adequate air flow and monitor operating temperatures to confirm the machine is functioning properly. Additionally, regulators and control valves will be inspected.
Preventive maintenance service calls also provide the opportunity to gather important, predictive data from your compressor system. Most compressor manufacturers recommend regular oil sampling to monitor both fluid, and compressor air end condition. Vibration and wear data will be observed to establish a historical trend of the rotating components’ condition. We will follow manufacturer guidelines for compressors within the warranty period, but this also is a good practice to continue even after a warranty has expired.
Many modern air compressors are controlled by microprocessors that will store operating parameters including alarm and fault histories, operating hours and start/stop history as well as compressor load profile. During service visits our service technician will note key information from the machine controller to store with the service records.
Service Agreements of every 90 days or more frequently get a reduced PM Rate.
